To help increase the speed of brush changing, look into getting a logitech nuLooq naviagator, you customize the dial bar (much like the control dial on an Ipod) to your liking. I have it adjust the size of my brushes on the fly. the Item is only $80 and saves me considerable time. You could also use customizable palletes and save one brush variant in a number of sizes. With these two techniques I work alot faster. I also hardly ever need to touch the keyboard while I work. That alone really improves the feeling of paining.

Btw, Keep up the good work, dosn’t look like you just started with painter.

This is amazing!! This is incredible. Your first try in Painter X?? Wonderful work. And I LOVE the content too being an Elvis fan. Your design with the font and the colors you chose for this are really nice!!!!

I know what you mean about losing creativity on the design stuff. I spend so much time everyday laying things out and getting ready for press that I really ignore those parts of projects outside of work. Design sucks. I think I just want to be a painter!

Meanwhile, I’m super glad you got a tablet. Touchpadding is crazy. I can’t even surf the web with one of those!

Aaaadam, thanks for the comments. Yes Painter is more difficult..I feel like I am lacking speed because I have to change the brush type constantly and I am not getting a lot of good options using layers. But I do love all the color variations I can get with one brush stroke, i think that is my favorite part.
Yes, I got a Wacom, David’s old one actually. It broke (the cord tore) and he had to get a new one quick, so I had his old one fixed and now I’m using it. I can’t believe I used a touch pad for so long.. I think I was crazy. I must say I’m probably the best touchpadder ever, but seriously I should have upgraded a long time ago.
I do need to add rosiness to him, and finish up the equipment. Aaaand figure out what to do with the type. I feel like I am losing creativity when it comes to type and design, since I have to do the same look and feel/style everyday at work.

Tina, I _love_ his hands and the way you’ve arranged him here. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished piece. Painter is a challenging program. I gave up on it. I feel like I can get better effects with Photoshop faking the effects that it creates on its own. What do you think?

Did you get a Wacom? It doesn’t look like you’d be able to do this stuff with your touch pad anymore.

Also: a little mid-way critique: I think the one thing that this is missing is the rosiness that your figures always have in their skin. Something about the splashed of red really make something go from mannequin to man, and that’s something I learned from you. Is that your next step?
