missing the beach

« »

This piece was created with children’s book illustrator Kelsea Parks as a collaboration.

Kelsea moved to Charleston, South Carolina this month, so she won’t have to miss the beach anymore.

I love the use of many colors in her skin– makes it look luminously pale, as if missing the beach from the depths of winter. Gorgeous.

I just figured out which artist this reminded me of– Klimt!! With the colors in the skin, and the pattern in the background. Still gorgeous, of course. Just wanted to share my “aha” moment :)

I’m glad many of you have commented on the skin tones because that is my absolute favorite thing to do with colored pencils.
