Amazing work! I love the strong outline to the figure, but with the soft handling of the flesh tones. The balance of the pattern on the figure and wall is also great, but I think it’s the palette that puts the cherry on top, Magic! Also loved ‘discovery’ from last weeks IF, sorry I didn’t happen upon it sooner!
Whats your technique on this one… mostly traditional media on the figure w digital finishing…?

I love everything about this but… the color of the underwear is a bit dissident to my eye, sorry to be picky, I really do love this piece and your work in general!

Thanks for the compliments and the question, Matt! I drew out the figure, floor, and patterns (the patterns were drawn separately) in pencil, scanned it in, and worked the rest of it digitally. I painted it with a Wacom tablet, then digitally repeated the pattern on the wall, and placed the one on her leg. For the final touch I added a texture to the entire piece to set the mood. I talk about the textures in this piece in my post here: http://tinavaziri.com/blog/?p=55

That bright cyan blue is one of my favorite colors to use sparingly. But, this color does show up brighter on some people’s monitors/browsers than others.

Interesting and very cool technique. I imagine the subject writing a poem about her life. The illustration seems to symbolize something like that to me. How we embellish things in poetry and when we write about ourselves. And we feel naked or nearly so as we reveal who we are in our writing.

Beautiful painting! Very evocative. Personally, I like the underwear color. I like that they stand out from the other colors so distictly.

What I enjoy about this the most is there is no head, the angle and the fact that this is a REGULAR type of woman… (excepting perhaps the tatoo)…..Your colour choices are warm… and the red tipped toes… add a bit of edginess that is enticing to say the least
